SPF, which stands for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail protection system, that is employed to confirm whether an e-mail message is sent by an official server. Employing SPF protection for a domain will stop the faking of emails created with the domain. In layman's terms: enabling this attribute for a domain name creates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP of the servers that are allowed to send e-mail messages from mail boxes under the domain. Once this record propagates worldwide, it exists on all the DNS servers that direct the Internet traffic. Every time an email message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through checks if it comes from an accredited server. In the event it does, it is forwarded to the destination address, however if it doesn't originate from a server listed in the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. In this way nobody can mask an e-mail address and make it appear as if you are sending spam messages. This approach is also called email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Hosting

SPF protection can be activated for every domain hosted in a hosting account on our cloud hosting platform with only a few clicks. The option can be found in the Emails section of our leading-edge Hepsia Control Panel and all you need to enable it is to pick one of your domains from the drop-down list and to type in the hostnames along with the IPv4 or IPv6 addresses of the e-mail servers that will be approved to send email messages from your email addresses. As an additional option you may also restrict the email messages to be sent from your domain name only if it has our MX records, in other words when our servers manage the email addresses for it, not some third-party provider. This option will provide you with the highest degree of safety, but it's not applicable when only your web site is on our servers while your e-mail addresses for the domain are handled in another place. Regardless, our SPF protection service will keep your emails safe from being used for spam and scam purposes.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection function is available with all Linux semi-dedicated hosting, so in case you host your domains in an account on our cloud hosting platform, you will be able to use the service effortlessly for any of your domains. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is included with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a rather intuitive interface, so you will not need to be proficient in the use of computers to secure your e-mails. You will simply have to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you'd like to be certified to send out emails from your addresses and shortly after that the new record will be activated for the domain that you have selected. As an extra option, we will also give you the ability to limit your outgoing e-mail messages and secure your mailboxes even further by permitting email messages to be sent only if the domain involved contains our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain name have to be handled on our end and not by some other company. By doing this you will get even superior control and there won't be a chance for somebody to fake your e-mails for harmful objectives.
